Heath Martin (Nonstop Progress)

Things that can help separate YOU from the pack

February 3, 2021

Today I got the opportunity to chat a bit with Heath Martin. He is an MLS academy player with professional experience, a certified nutrition coach, and the owner of Nonstop.progress. It is really amazing to see how much Heath has done, and I truly am inspired by his hard work and dedication to be where he is now, which is why I wanted to ask him a few questions that I believe will benefit younger players across the world. To keep up with Heaths training, make sure to follow him @nonstop.progress.

Q: What attributes do you think a player needs in order for them to become pro?

A:"They need every aspect of their game to be a pro - each one is important, and having each attribute at a proficient enough level to compete against a player that is currently already playing pro increases the odds of you becoming one."

Q: What is the best advice/words of wisdom you have gained from another coach/teammate

A:"The best advice I have gained is to believe in yourself. I’ve seen confidence cripple players—myself included. Being able to trust and be confident in your abilities is the difference between being a true pro and being an amateur player."

Anthony Legendre (FC Tulsa)

What keeps a pro like Anthony Motivated?

February 3rd, 2021

Anthony's soccer career began in Canada on the Ottawa Fury Academy. Anthony has spent time playing in the DC United academy, Spain, France, New Zealand, and Australia. He most recently was on FC Tulsa in the USL and I really wanted to speak to him about his journey and the realities of professional soccer. For more info about him, follow his instagram @legendre28

Q: Where do you think you've learned and progressed the most as a player, and what contributed to that?

A: Anthony response was overseas, he learned a lot more about the game and got to see soccer in a different manner. He was living across the world, in a country he had never been, which really helped him step out of his comfort zone. He believes the traveling and difficult situations he was in shaped him to become the player he is today.

Q: What did you use as motivation to keep on going?

A: They were times Anthony had to sleep at airports, but in the back of his mind he knew it would pay off eventually. "Some people have a smooth easy path to becoming a pro. Most people have a hard time and struggle, but I knew it was part of the plan, part of the trip to make it to the next level. I just kept reminding myself that I needed to stay as motivated as possible."
